HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 56 ORDINANCE NO. 56 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CATHEDRAL CITY AMENDING PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 2.18 OF THE CATHEDRAL CITY MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE NAME AND DUTIES OF THE COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION. The city council of the City of Cathedral City, California, does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. The title of Chapter 2.18 of the Cathedral City Municipal Code, and the first sentence of Section 2.18.010 of said Code hereby are each amended by deleting the words "community services commission" and substituting therefor the words "parks and recreation commission." SECTION 2. Section 2.18.040 of the Cathedral City Municipal Code hereby is amended to read as follows: 2.18.040 Functions, powers and duties. The commission shall function in an advisory role to the city council, and to the city manager and community services staff, as appropriate. To fulfill this role, the commission shall have, among others which hereafter may be delegated by the city council, the following responsibilities: (1) To assess the social, recreational and educational needs of the community. (2) To assist in the development and implementation and ongoing evaluation of a master plan for parks and recreation. (3) To advise the city council and city staff on the development, marketing, and evaluation of parks and recreation programs to meet the needs of the community. (4) To research innovative strategies for the financing of parks, and recreational facilities for the city. (5) To submit annual progress reports to the city council for review. (6) To assist the city council on other matters relating to parks and recreation as requested. SECTION 3. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty (30) days after passage. SECTION 4. POSTING.
