AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CATHEDRAL
CITY ESTABLISHING THE RATE FOR
INDIVIDUAL RESIDENTIAL REFUSE PICKUP
AND DISPOSAL SERVICE, AND ELECTING TO
HAVE CHARGES PAYABLE FOR SUCH SERVICES
FOR THE YEAR OF 1984 AND SUBSEQUENT
YEARS, COLLECTED ON THE TAX ROLL
PURSUANT TO SECTION 5473 OF THE HEALTH
AND SAFETY CODE
The city council of the City of Cathedral City does ordain as follows:
SECTION. 1 This Ordinance is enacted pursuant to authorization contained in
Sections 5471 and 5473 of the Health and Safety Code of the State of California.
SECTION 2. The rate and charge for City-furnished garbage and refuse collection
and disposal services for individual residences (curb service, once per week pickup of any
combination of 6 - cans, bags or bundles) is hereby established, prescribed and fixed at six
dollars ($6.00) per month; provided that such basic rate shall be decreased fifty cents
(.50c) per month for each residential account which is collected on the tax roll on a non-
delinquent basis; and further provided that there may be added, at the option of the City,
an appropriate amount to each account to reimburse the city for its costs and expenses
related to causing such account to be collected on the tax roll. The basic rate and charge
as prescribed in this Section shall be subject to future modification by ordinance or
resolution of this City Council.
SECTION 3. The City of Cathedral City hereby elects to have charges, commencing
with those for January, 1984 and for all subsequent months until such election is
appropriately changed, established for City-furnished garbage and refuse collection and
disposal services for individual residences, collected on the tax roll in the same manner,
by the same persons, and at the same time as, together with and not separately from, the
general taxes.
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
thirty (30) days after passage.
SECTION 5. POSTING. The city clerk shall within 15 days after the passage of this
ordinance, cause it to be posted in at least the 3 public places designated by resolution of
the City Council; shall certify to the adoption and posting of this ordinance; and shall
cause this ordinance and its certification, together with proof of posting, to be entered in
k the book of ordinances of this City.

The foregoing ordinance was approved and adopted at a meeting of the City Council
held on June 1 , 1983, by the following vote:
