AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CATHEDRAL CITY, CALIFORNIA AMENDING CHAPTER 2.04.05 OF
THE MUNICIPAL CODE INCREASING COMPENSATION PAID TO
EACH MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM SEVEN HUNDRED
NINETY-ONE DOLLARS AND EIGHT CENTS TO ONE THOUSAND
ONE HUNDRED SIXTY EIGHT DOLLARS AND SEVENTY NINE CENTS
PER MONTH.
WHEREAS, Chapter 2.04.05 of the Municipal code authorizes payment of salary
to Council Members; and
WHEREAS, the amount of salary has not been increased since 2006; and
WHEREAS, the California Government Code provides for an increase of five
percent per year; and
WHEREAS, only the amount of salary will be adjusted; and
WHEREAS, any other form of reimbursement will remain the same.
NOW, THEREFORE the City Council of the City of Cathedral City does hereby
ordain the following:
Chapter 2.04.05 of the City Municipal Code is amended to read as follows:
2.04.05 Compensation and reimbursement. Pursuant to Section 36516 of the
Government Code of the State of California, compensation shall be paid to each
member of the City Council in the amount of six hundred nineteen dollars and fifty-eight
cents per month effective December 21, 2001; and compensation shall be paid to each
member of the City Council in the amount of seven hundred ninety-one dollars and eight
cents per month effective December 14, 2006; and compensation shall be paid to each
member of the City Council in the amount of one thousand one hundred sixty eight
dollars and seventy nine cents per month effective December 21, 2014. The
compensation prescribed in this section is and shall be exclusive of any amounts
payable to each member of the City Council as reimbursement for actual and necessary
expenses incurred by him/her in the performance of official duties for the City; and
accordingly, each member of the City Council shall receive reimbursement of two
hundred dollars per month for reimbursement of personal auto expenses for travel
within the Coachella Valley and twenty-five dollars per month for health fitness plans
and such actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of official duties
for the City pursuant to the provisions of Section 36514.5 of the Government Code.
The foregoing ordinance was approved and adopted at a meeting of the City
Council held on October 8, 2014, by the following vote:
