A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CATHEDRAL
CITY, CALIFORNIA, TO ALLOW CANNABIS DISPENSARIES TO
OPERATE OUTSIDE NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS ON JANUARY 1,
2018
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CATHEDRAL CITY FINDS:
A. Cathedral City licenses and regulates cannabis businesses as permitted by
state law, and allows dispensaries to operate between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.
B. On January 1, 2018, sales of adult use cannabis by licensed and permitted
dispensaries will be allowed under the Cathedral City Municipal Code.
C. Cathedral City desires to allow dispensaries to operate outside of their
normal business hours on January 1, 2018 only.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CATHEDRAL CITY
RESOLVES:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of the Cathedral City Municipal; Code
section 5.88.065(20)(B)(1), which sets forth the City's current cannabis business hours of
operation, on January 1, 2018, all cannabis dispensaries with a City cannabis business
license and conditional use permit in good standing may open to the public at 12:00 a.m.
and close at 10 p.m.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
PASSED APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council
of the City of Cathedral City held on this 29th day of November, 2017, by the following
vote:
Ayes: Council Members Aguilar, Carnevale and Kaplan; Mayor
Pro Tem Pettis; Mayor Henry
