AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CATHEDRAL CITY AMENDING SECTION 13.58.020,
"ADMINISTRATIVE FINES" OF THE CATHEDRAL CITY
MUNICIPAL CODE
WHEREAS, the Cathedral City Municipal Code ( "Municipal
Code ") currently provides that parties to whom administrative
citations are issued shall be responsible for a payment of a
fine in the amount set forth in applicable chapters of the
Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to require, that
administrative citations shall include imposition of
processing fees and late fees, where applicable, to be paid by
the violator.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CATHEDRAL
CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. AMENDMENT OF MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION
13. 58. 020
Municipal Code Section 13.58.020, "Administrative Fines"
shall be amended as follows:
13.58.020 Administrative Fines.
A. Any party to whom an administrative citation is
issued, shall be responsible for payment of an administrative
fine, the amount of which shall be set forth in the applicable
chapter of the municipal code.
B. If payment of an administrative fine is not paid by
the applicable deadline as set forth in section 13.58.150, the
following late fees shall apply and shall be added to the
total amount owed by the violator:
(i) 0 - 30 days after deadline - No late fee
(ii) 31 -60 days after deadline - Late fee equal
to 50% of the initial underlying
administrative fine
(iii) Over 60 days after deadline - Late fee

equal to 100% of the initial underlying
administrative fine
C. Processing fees actually incurred by the City shall be
added to the total amount due and payable on every
administrative fine, in addition to the base amount of the
fine.
Section 2. SEVERABILITY
The City Council declares that, should any provision,
section, paragraph, sentence or word of this ordinance be
rendered or declared invalid by any final court action in a
court of competent jurisdiction or by reason of any preemptive
legislation, the remaining provisions, sections, paragraphs,
sentences or words of this ordinance as hereby adopted shall
remain in full force and effect.
Section 3. REPEAL OF CONFLICTING PROVISIONS
All the provisions of the Cathedral City City Municipal
Code as heretofore adopted by the City of Cathedral City that
are in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are
hereby repealed.
Section 4. AMENDING OF BAIL SCHEDULE
The City Attorney's Office is hereby directed to
determine whether this ordinance necessitates amendment of the
City's Bail Schedule and to cause such necessary amendments to
be made and filed with the local branches of the Superior
Court of the County of Riverside.
Section 5. EFFECTIVE DATE
This ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after
its second reading by the City Council.

Section 6. CERTIFICATION
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this
ordinance and shall cause the same to be published according
to law.
