The meeting was called to order at 2:00 PM by Mayor Rita Lamb.

1. AGENDA ITEMS
A. Staffing Review of the City Manager Department
Recommendation: This item is presented for information, discussion and
direction only.
City Manager Charles McClendon provided a review of the staffing for the City
Manager's Department, including potential changes and additions to the FY
2023/2024 and 2024/2025 budget. In addition, the City Manager reported on
accomplishments that were achieved by the Human Resources and City Clerk's
Departments as well as their goals for the upcoming budget cycle.
Ryan Hunt, Communications and Events Manager, provided an overview of the
staffing and functions for the Communications and Events Department, including
potential changes and additions to the FY 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 budget.
This item was a presentation only, no formal action was taken.
B. Proposed FY 2023-2024 Special Events
Recommendation: This item is for information and to receive direction from the
City Council, no formal action will be taken.
Ryan Hunt, Communications and Events Manager, provided an overview of the
proposed FY 2023/2024 Special Events.
After discussion, the City Council expressed support for continuing allocations for
the following events/programs for FY 2023/2024:
• Kids Summer Film Series
• CCHS Homecoming Parade
• Halloween Spooktacular
• Banner Program
• Palm Springs Pride
• Fields of Valor
• Palm Spring Film Festival
• Taste of Jalisco
• Cathedral City LGBT Days
• State of the City
• Harvey Milk Breakfast
• Palm Springs Restaurant Week
The City Council also expressed interest for the following options presented by
staff..
• Explore Food Truck Tuesday events- ensuring local vendors are also
utilized
• Explore options for local city events in lieu of Tejano Music Fest
• Explore purchasing a city owned balloon for the Cathedral City Hot Air
Balloon Festival, and possible changes to days and times for the annual
event
• Increase the North Pole Village at Snow Fest budget
C. Staffing Review of the Administrative Services Department
Recommendation: This item is presented for information, discussion and
direction only.
This item will be heard at a future meeting.
