RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CATHEDRAL CITY, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING THE
NEIGHBORHOOD TRAFFIC CONTROL PROGRAM
PROCESS AND ESTABLISHING A CIP BUDGET OF $20,000
FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1998/99.
WHEREAS, Staff has prepared the Neighborhood Traffic Control Program Process using a
combination of existing traffic control device guidelines, and current philosophies detailed in the
Livable Cities and Ahwanee principles, and
WHEREAS, the Transportation Commission of the City of Cathedral City passed a Resolution
recommending approval and adoption of this Program and process for residents and others to follow
when requesting new or modified traffic control devices within the City, and
WHEREAS, this City Council in conjunction with Staff, the Planning Commission, the
Transportation Commission and outside traffic experts have thoroughly reviewed the Neighborhood
Traffic Control Program Process, and
WHEREAS, a duly noticed public hearing was held on May 21, 1998 where members of the
general public were invited and spoke of their concerns about the proposed Neighborhood Traffic
Control Program Process at the Transportation Commission meeting held thereon;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Cathedral City, that
(1)the attached Neighborhood Traffic Control Program Process is hereby adopted and approved and
shall be incorporated as a permanent part of the City's Planning, Development and Traffic Control
processes, and (2) a Capitol Improvement Project budget of seed money of$20,000 is approved for
the purpose of providing dollar-for-dollar matching contributions to moneys provided by project
requestants.
