The City Council discussed the Commission/Committee appointment process and
the possibility of having each member of the City Council appoint one member each
to each commission. At the conclusion of the discussion, it was the direction of the
City Council that staff bring back, at a future meeting, a Commission/Committee
appointment process and transition plan for the City Council to discuss, which
includes the City Council making one appointment to each commission by district or
at large.
The City Council also discussed whether or not they would like to consider offering
stipends to Commission/Committee members. After discussion, it was the direction
of the City Council to not move forward with offering stipends to
Commission/Committee members at this time.
The City Council directed staff to require all candidates, including those that would
like to be re-appointed, to participate in the interview process. They also directed
staff to ensure that candidates participate in the interviews in person not on Zoom if
the Council Meeting is held in person.
