A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CATHEDRAL CITY, CALIFORNIA,
APPROVING THE CATHEDRAL CITY HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN AND
AUTHORIZING ITS SUBSEQUENT INCORPORATION INTO THE
SAFETY ELEMENT OF THE GENERAL PLAN
WHEREAS, the City of Cathedral City met on 12th day of June 2019, at a regularly
scheduled meeting to consider approving the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) and
its subsequent inclusion in the Safety Element of the General Plan as part of the City's
proposed amendment of the General Plan, which is currently being processed by the City
General Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City of Cathedral City has developed the LHMP in accordance
with the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 and it has been approved by the Federal
Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). When subsequently incorporated into the
Safety Element of the General Plan, the LHMP will provide guidance and insight to the
hazards that exist in Cathedral City and suggest possible mitigation projects. The LHMP
should be consulted when addressing known hazards to ensure the general health and
safety of Cathedral City residents; and
WHEREAS, the Cathedral City Fire Department has recommended to the City
Council of Cathedral City that it adopt the Cathedral City Fire Department's recommended
finding that the LHMP is in the public interest and in furtherance of the public safety and
that the City Council approve the LHMP; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Cathedral City considered said
recommendations of the Cathedral City Fire Department and after review and
consideration found that the LHMP is in conformance with federal, State and local
requirements and environmental guidelines.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CATHEDRAL CITY
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT the City Council finds that the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan is in public
interest and in furtherance of the public's safety; that the Plan is in conformance
with federal, State, and local requirements and environmental guidelines; and
that the Plan is exempt from environmental review as required by CEQA
through-the-use- of the "General Rule", Section 15061(b)3 that is applied to
projects, which will have no potential adverse impact on the environment ;
2. THAT the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan is hereby approved and adopted and
may be enforced by the City Manager and his or her designees;

3. THAT the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan be either by summary, reference, or
attachment, subsequently incorporated into the Safety Element of the General
Plan as part of the City's proposed amendment of its General Plan which is
currently in process.
4. THAT the City's City Manager, Charles McClendon, is the appointed agent for
purposes of the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan for the City of Cathedral City.
5. THAT the City Clerk shall certify as to the adoption of this resolution and shall
cause the same to be processed in the manner required by law.
