HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Reso 2018-57 RESOLUTION NO. 2018-57 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OFTHE CITY OF CATHEDRAL CITY, CALIFORNIA DESIGNATING A NO STOPPING, NO STANDING AND/OR NO PARKING ZONE ON THE WEST AND EAST SIDES OF SANTORO DRIVE, SOUTH FROM McCALLUM WAY TO APPROXIMATELY 175 FEET SOUTH OF MEGAN COURT. WHEREAS, Chapter 12.32 of the Cathedral City Municipal Code covers PARKING regulations in the City; and, WHEREAS, Sub-section 12.32.080 of the PARKING code covers: "No-parking areas" to indicate no parking or stopping of vehicles; and WHEREAS, Residents residing in the residential homes have advised City Staff that vehicles parked on Santoro Drive are causing motorist to drive around the parked vehicles and move east on the roadway into potential on-coming traffic; and WHEREAS, the City Engineer has reviewed the traffic movements on Santoro Drive, from McCallum Way south to approximately 175 feet south of Megan Court and confirms that the creation of a No Stopping, No Standing and/or No Parking Zone will enhance safety and reduce potential traffic hazards; and WHEREAS, that such restrictions shall take effect only when suitable red curbing, no parking signs and/or other designations are installed and completed; and WHEREAS, No Parking areas in the City of Cathedral City may be established by Resolution approved by City Council. NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, DETERMINED, AND ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF CATHEDRAL CITY, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Cathedral City, California, that pursuant to Section 12.32.080 of the Cathedral City Municipal Code, that a No Stopping, No Standing and/or No Parking Zone is hereby established on the west and east sides of Santoro Drive, south from McCallum Way to approximately 175 feet south of Megan Court. SECTION 2. That the City Council does hereby authorize the City Engineer to rescind all or portions of the designated No Stopping, No Standing and/or No Parking Zone in the future as the roadway is improved and/or widened. SECTION 3. That the City Council does hereby resolve that such restrictions shall take effect only when suitable red curbing, no parking signs and/or other designations are installed and completed. SECTION 4. That the City Clerk shall certify to adoption of this resolution. SECTION 5. This Resolution shall take effect upon its adoption. SECTION 6. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original Resolutions of said City; and shall make a minute passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which Resolution is passed and adopted.
