HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Reso 2016-04 RESOLUTION 2016 - 04-= A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CATHEDRAL CITY PERTAINING TO AN APPLICATION FOR A STAFFING FOR ADEQUATE FIRE AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE GRANT FROM THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has federal grant funds for local fire agencies, to fund adequate staffing of firefighters; and WHEREAS, the City of Cathedral City is submitting an application for said funding, in the form of a reimbursable grant, from the FEMA Staffing For Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant Program; and WHEREAS, if FEMA awards the City of Cathedral City a reimbursable SAFER Grant it will provide up to six firefighter positions during the federal fiscal years 2015/2016 and 2016/2017; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Cathedral City has an interest in providing adequate firefighters to protect the residents and visitors of Cathedral City California the City Council will accept the FEMA SAFER Grant; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CATHEDRAL CITY DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: 1. THAT Approval of the application for the federal fiscal year 2015/16 SAFER Grant from the FEMA is hereby granted; and 2. THAT City Manager Charles McClendon is the appointed agent for the City of Cathedral City, to conduct all application, acceptance and implementation arrangements and to execute and submit all documents and any other necessary or desirable instruments in connection with such grant. 3. THAT the City Clerk shall certify as to the adoption of this Resolution and shall cause the same to be processed in the manner required by law.
