A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CATHEDRAL CITY, CALIFORNIA, IN SUPPORT OF THE
"AGREEMENT FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT FIRE AND EMERGENCY
ASSISTANCE TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA AND FEDERAL FIRE
AGENCIES", HEREINAFTER REFERRED TO AS THE "CALIFORNIA
FIRE ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT" (CFAA)
WHEREAS, The City of Cathedral City (City) Fire Department deploys trained
firefighters under the CFAA to support state and federal agencies in the suppression of •
wildfires and;
WHEREAS, the City has in its employ, Fire Department response
personnel which includes: Fire Chief, Battalion Chief, Fire Captain, Engineer and
Firefighter and;
WHEREAS, the City will compensate its employees portal to portal while in the
course of their employment and away from their official duty station, and assigned to an
emergency incident, in support of an emergency incident or pre-positioned for
emergency response and;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CATHEDRAL
CITY, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City will compensate the employees of the Fire Department in
connection with CFAA related activities by paying overtime in accordance with their
current Memorandum of Understandings for all hours worked (1) in excess of their
normal work week, in the course of their employment with the City, (2) away from their
official duty station in the City, and (3) assigned to an emergency incident, in support of
an emergency incident or prepositioned for emergency response.
SECTION 2. By adoption of this Resolution, the City Council establishes the
aforementioned as the City practices for Fiscal Year 2015/2016 and directs staff to
provide the Resolution and required documentation to the California Office of
Emergency Services in compliance with the CFAA.
SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council
of the City of Cathedral City held on this 22nd day of June, 2015, by the following vote:
